Fun facts:

• Rhinos are the only animals with horns on their noses. Most rhinos have two horns, but not us Great One-Horned Indian Rhinos! I’m a unicorn! I have one horn, so that makes me a unicorn, doesn’t it? Actually, I’m just a “unibump.” You may notice that I just have a bump where my horns would normally be. I’ve been dehorned, as have many rhinos in the wild. This is done to protect us from poachers who kill us just to get our horns. Without our horns, we feel a little naked, but at least we’re alive.

• At up to 6,900 pounds, we’re the largest of the three Asian rhinos. That’s about the weight of three cars!

• There are five kinds of rhinos. We have many traits in common, including great hearing and bad eyesight. Because we’re so nearsighted, we tend to charge when startled. That’s why we have the reputation of having a fierce temper. But what we really have is a need for glasses!
